Wood-fired ovens are expensive. Period. But have you ever wondered why? Does it really take 3000+ hard earned dollars to have a quality oven? No. It doesn't. Not even close!
99% of all pre-fabricated ovens are made of a product called Castable Refractory. The best way to describe Castable Refractory is to say, it's a special blend of concrete that can withstand over 2500 degrees. And that's VERY hot! Since this is a special material, it costs a bit more than a bag of concrete.. usually $40 per bag). Now, you can't just run down to the Big Box stores and pick-up bags of Castable Refractory, but odds are, there is a masonry supply near you that stocks it. The other expensive part of a wood-fired oven is the shipping cost. Shipping a super-heavy oven across the US can cost a LOT of money (usually around $700) and that's just delivered to your driveway. Backyard delivery costs more.
Now add up those costs..
$360 for 9 Bags of Castable Refractory
$700 for Delivery
$390 for parts (Door, Blanket, Exhaust)
So where does that other $1500 go? We don't know either! And THAT'S why we created the Cortile Barile oven mold!
Our Castable Refractory foam mold provides you the ability to make a high-quality wood-fired oven by simply mixing 3 ingredients (Castable Refractory, Water & Stainless Steel fibers) and then casting the mix into our foam mold (hense the "castable" in Castable Refractory) . After 7 days of drying time, remove the foam mold and you will have the 5 parts needed to build the Cortile Barile oven!
Here are some benefits for building a Cortile Barile oven:
6. Only takes 2 hours to mix, pour & pack
5. 4 joints / intersections vs 100's on firebrick ovens
4. Lighter weight
3. Lower ceiling for faster cooking (14"H)
2. Heats fast and uses less wood
1. Here's the biggest benefit of all.. the entire oven only costs around $1000! And that's everything needed to build the oven! The foam forms (delivered), Castable Refractory, Ceramic Fiber Blanket, Oven Door & Stainless Steel DuraTech exhaust kit!
CORTILE BARILE - PACKAGE 1 INCLUDES:
Cortile Barile Foam Form (2 boxes), 9lbs of Stainless Steel Fibers, Ceramic Fiber Blanket, Oven Door, DuraTech Exhuast Kit (Anchor Plate, 12" Chimney Pipe, Chimney Cap & Spark Arrestor)
